Using a Visual Schedule at Home

Updated: Apr 6, 2020

Hello EC Parent Community!

We will not be uploading new learning content this week, but we wanted to check in with you and let you know we are still here if you have questions! We highly recommend you create a login for this site and join the "forum" section where you will be able to share ideas as a parent community. This post is in response to several of you asking for ways to create more structure in your child's day! If this is something you are struggling with, we highly recommend creating a visual schedule with your child and we're here to show you how! Miss Brittany will give you details in the video below.

Below you will find links to everything mentioned in the video. If you are going to customize the visual schedule, please make a copy of the google doc to edit so that the original can stay the same for everyone else! If you try the visual schedule this week, we would love to hear about how it's working for you in the forum! This will be a perfect week to implement a schedule without any pressure to meet academic goals or have it look a certain way! Let your child help decide the schedule for each day, change it up as needed, and KEEP IT FUN!

We hope you have checked out our parent resources tab on the home page. We will be continually updating that page so please check back often. As a school community, we have created a 13 page google doc of free online resources categorized by age and subject! It is listed on the parent resources page and we've included the link here as well:

Montessorium is a website with apps designed to help children learn the Montessori materials similar to how they would learn them in the classroom!

Learning without Tears is offering a 90 day free membership in response to so many families adjusting to remote learning. We love this company and use the "Handwriting without Tears" approach with our kindergarteners.

Ash Mae Hoiland is offering her course "The Creative Hour" for free right now! It is an online course aimed at adults seeking to create alongside their children. This would be a perfect thing to try together over Spring Break! https://ashmae.teachable.com/p/thecreativehour For those of you who also have children under 3, CanDo Kiddo is offering all of her baby play courses and e-books on a "pay what you will" system! She is a pediatric occupational therapist and is great at showing you how to implement developmentally conscious baby play!
